Fire in Istanbul building sends 10 to hospital

A fire erupted on the roof of an 11-story building in Istanbul's Atakent neighborhood on Friday afternoon, quickly spreading and causing alarm among residents. The fire, which began around 3:30 PM on 4th Cadde, sent flames high into the air. In the ensuing panic, one individual reportedly jumped from the first floor of the building.

Thick smoke filled the building, trapping 19 residents inside. Emergency services, including firefighters, paramedics, and police, responded swiftly to the scene after being alerted by bystanders. Police cordoned off the area to ensure public safety while firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze and rescue those trapped.

Fire crews successfully rescued all 19 individuals who were trapped by the smoke and worked to contain the fire. Paramedics assessed the affected residents at the scene. Nine people who suffered from smoke inhalation, along with the individual who jumped from the first floor, were transported by ambulance to nearby hospitals for further treatment. The building sustained damage as a result of the fire, and an investigation has been launched to determine its cause.
