Fire near GLP plant in Dominican Republic controlled

Firefighters successfully contained a significant fire in Hato del Yaque, Santiago, Dominican Republic, preventing it from reaching a nearby GLP bottling plant and commercial establishments. The blaze erupted on Friday in a lot adjacent to Junquito Gas, consuming a pile of polyethylene materials and tubes.

The combustion of these materials created intense heat, complicating the firefighters' efforts. Units from the Hato del Yaque and Santiago fire departments, supported by other institutions and private assistance, were mobilized to combat the flames. Two tanker trucks and a pump truck from Santiago, along with a pump truck and a tanker truck from Hato del Yaque, and another tanker truck from La Canela, were deployed.

Approximately 20 firefighters participated in the operation, coordinated by the commander of Hato del Yaque, with the accompaniment of Lieutenant Colonel Luis Cabrera and the supervision of General Alexis Moscat. General Moscat remained on-site to coordinate with the GLP plant management, ensuring the safety of their facilities.

No damage was reported to the GLP plant or surrounding businesses. The origin of the fire remains under investigation.
