Firefighter slightly injured: Man returns to burning house and is rescued by firefighters

A dramatic rescue unfolded in Eltville am Rhein, Germany, when a resident re-entered his burning house after having already evacuated with four other occupants. The man's decision to go back inside the engulfed structure led to him needing to be rescued by firefighters.

According to a fire department statement, the reason for the man's return to the burning building was not apparent to the responding crews. While the man emerged unharmed, the incident resulted in a minor injury to one firefighter, who received treatment at the scene.

Firefighters battled the blaze, which had reportedly engulfed the roof of the half-timbered house and caused the staircase to burn through, hindering interior access. They eventually brought the fire under control using two ladder trucks.

The house has been deemed structurally unsound and uninhabitable due to the fire damage. The displaced residents have been provided with temporary emergency accommodation by the city. The cause of the fire and the extent of the financial damage remain under investigation by the police.
