Firefighters from Nova Scotia heading to Labrador where wildfires forced evacuations

Wildfires in Labrador have forced residents to evacuate their homes, prompting an interprovincial effort to combat the blazes. Firefighters from Nova Scotia are en route to join ground crews and water bombers already working to control fires in western and eastern Labrador.

The provincial Department of Forestry, Agriculture and Lands stated that the focus is on fires threatening communities and vital infrastructure. Weather conditions on Thursday reportedly aided crews in their efforts to suppress the flames.

Earlier in the week, approximately 120 people were compelled to leave their homes and cabins. These evacuations primarily affected a mining town situated near the Quebec border. While some evacuation orders have since been rescinded, others continue to be enforced.
