Firefighters Rescue Man Alive From Compacted Garbage Truck in San Francisco

A bystander's decision to investigate screams from a compacted garbage truck led to the rescue of a man trapped inside in San Francisco.

Twenty-five firefighters worked for more than two hours, removing the compacted refuse by hand. They eventually freed the man alive and conscious.

Paramedics treated him at the scene before rushing him to hospital shortly before 7 a.m. Authorities are investigating what led to the incident.
