Fires Across Bavaria Cause Damage, Injuries; Senior Home Evacuated

Bavaria experienced a weekend marred by numerous fires, resulting in substantial property damage and multiple injuries. A serious incident occurred in Rednitzhembach near Nuremberg, where a fire broke out in a senior living complex. One resident suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a hospital. The entire facility, housing about 50 elderly individuals, had to be evacuated. Another person was taken away by ambulance, and a third received on-site treatment for smoke inhalation. A temporary shelter was established for the displaced residents, with a doctor present.

The fire, believed to have started in a top-floor apartment due to unknown causes, was extinguished after about an hour. Four apartments were directly affected, and the smoke plume was visible from afar. The estimated damage from this incident alone is significant.

Other fires across the state included a residential fire in Weißenburg, causing approximately 100,000 euros in damages but no injuries. In Landsberg am Lech, a multi-family home also caught fire. A two-year-old child was hospitalized with smoke inhalation after a fire made a terraced house in Glattbach uninhabitable.

Further north, a garage fire in Unterleinleiter, which involved an electric vehicle, caused over 200,000 euros in damages. The cause of this fire, and whether it spread from the electric car, remains under investigation. In Rothenburg ob der Tauber, a festival experienced a gas stove explosion, injuring ten people, eight of whom required hospitalization. Additionally, a forest fire in Manteler Forst covered about 1,000 square meters, prompting authorities to advise residents to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke.
