First major action after Delhi hostel collapse: Five officers suspended

The first major action after a Delhi building collapse that killed seven people has targeted five officials in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta ordered the suspension of the MCD’s South Zone deputy commissioner, executive engineer, superintending engineer, assistant engineer and junior engineer.

An order from the MCD’s Vigilance Department placed the South Zone deputy commissioner under suspension with immediate effect under the DMC Services (Control & Appeal) Regulations, 1959. The order said the official would receive a subsistence allowance as provided under the rules.

The action came a day after the collapse of a building housing a private hostel in Delhi. The report described the story as developing.
