Fishing Boat Sinks After Collision with LPG Carrier Off Busan; Two Missing

A collision between an LPG carrier and a fishing boat off the coast of Busan has resulted in the sinking of the fishing vessel and the disappearance of two crew members.

The incident occurred approximately 42.6 kilometers southeast of Daejeon Port. The 79-ton fishing boat, identified as Boat A, was struck by the 992-ton LPG carrier, Boat B. Eight crew members from Boat A were thrown into the sea following the collision.

Six of the fishermen were rescued by Boat B. However, one crew member is being urgently transported to the hospital in critical condition. The two missing individuals are Indonesian nationals in their 30s. The Coast Guard is actively searching the area where the fishing boat, believed to be at a depth of 140 meters, went down.

Maritime authorities have mobilized significant resources, including patrol boats, naval vessels, helicopters, and nearby fishing and official ships, to aid in the search. Weather conditions in the area include north-easterly winds of 6-8 meters per second and waves of 1.5-2 meters. Once the rescue operation concludes, the Coast Guard plans to thoroughly investigate the exact cause of the accident.
