Five arrested in Mexico City for property dispossession

Authorities have arrested five individuals in connection with property dispossession crimes in Mexico City's Tláhuac and Álvaro Obregón boroughs. The arrests occurred in two separate operations conducted by the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC).

In Tláhuac, three men aged 54, 47, and 40 were apprehended within a property in the Barrio Santiago Sur neighborhood. Police responded after the property owner reported that several individuals had entered the premises without permission and were conducting excavation work. Officers arrived after receiving an alert from the C2 Oriente command center and detained the suspects on-site.

The second operation took place in Álvaro Obregón, where two men were arrested for allegedly seizing a department from its owner. Police were alerted via the emergency number 911 about intruders at a property on Centenario Avenue in the Lomas de Plateros neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers were informed by a 37-year-old Uruguayan citizen that neighbors had reported noises from his apartment, indicating someone had entered. As officers entered the apartment, one suspect attempted to flee while discarding a fanny pack. Both were detained.

A search of the recovered fanny pack revealed a handgun with five live rounds, 38 small packages of a crystalline substance, and a cell phone. The SSC has not released further details on the specific charges or the connection between the two incidents beyond the shared charge of property dispossession.
