Five famous cars that sold at auction

Cars owned by royalty and celebrities often attract significant attention when they go up for auction, bringing with them unique stories.

Among recent sales, a 2009 Jaguar X-Type estate, previously owned by Queen Elizabeth II, fetched 39,200 pounds (around 447,000 Swedish kronor) in 2022. The British monarch was frequently seen driving such vehicles.

Another high-profile sale was a 1965 Aston Martin DB5, famously associated with the James Bond film "Thunderball." This iconic movie car sold for $6,385,000 (approximately 59 million kronor) in 2019, becoming the most expensive DB5 sold at auction at the time. The car was equipped with film-accurate "gadgets."

Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf, known for his passion for cars, had his first vehicle, a 1966 Volvo 1800S, auctioned for 640,000 kronor. The King received the car on his 20th birthday and kept it for two years. The auction house noted its "clear potential for improvement" but emphasized its "irresistible provenance."

Additionally, a 1977 Porsche 911S, driven by the character Saga Norén in the popular crime series "The Bridge," was auctioned for charity to benefit WaterAid. The actress Sofia Helin, an ambassador for the organization, presented the keys at the auction.
