Five Injured in Virginia State University Shooting; One Critical

A shooting incident at Virginia State University early Saturday morning left five people injured, with one individual in critical condition. The university confirmed the event occurred outside residence halls shortly after 1:28 a.m. local time.

Responding officers found five individuals suffering from gunshot wounds, all of whom were transported to local hospitals. While four of the injured sustained non-life-threatening wounds, the condition of the fifth victim remains critical. Information regarding the identity or number of suspects involved has not yet been released, and it is unclear if any arrests have been made.

The university implemented a temporary lockdown following the shooting, which has since been lifted. However, a substantial law enforcement presence remains on campus as the investigation unfolds.
