Five Kwara building collapse victims buried in Ilorin

Five members of the same family who died in a building collapse in Ilorin, Kwara State, have been buried according to Islamic rites.

The victims’ bodies were recovered from the debris of a two-storey building that collapsed on Tuesday evening in the Popo Giwa area. Relatives and mourners later buried the remains at the Muslim Cemetery in Oko-Olowo, Ilorin.

The janazah prayer was led by Islamic scholar Prof. Abubakar Imam Ali-Agan, a lecturer at the University of Ilorin. In a brief sermon, he urged Muslims to place their faith in Allah and accept divine will. He said the family could draw comfort from the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, which describe such a tragic death as a path to paradise.

Ali-Agan also called on the government to conduct public education campaigns that would help residents prevent natural disasters of this kind. Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq was represented at the funeral by Alhaji AbdulRazaq Jiddah.
