Five people killed in Northern Michigan, officials say; suspect found dead

Law enforcement is investigating a tragic incident involving the deaths of five individuals in rural Northern Michigan. The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Chad Hickman, was also found deceased.

State police were called to a residence in Lake Township, Missaukee County, following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, troopers discovered three deceased individuals and a fourth person with critical injuries. The suspect had fled the scene before police arrived, initiating a manhunt.

Authorities located Hickman's vehicle near a wooded area in Caldwell Township. A search of the area led to the discovery of both Hickman and a fourth victim, who were found dead. A fifth victim was subsequently found deceased at a separate home in Missaukee County, believed to be connected to the same case.

Michigan State Police Lt. Ashley Miller described the situation as "heartbreaking for the community and challenging for the investigators."
