Five Police Officers Arrested in Mexico City for Robbery and Attempted Homicide

Five police officers assigned to the Oasis Sector in Mexico City's Iztapalapa borough have been detained for their alleged involvement in qualified robbery and attempted qualified homicide. The arrests followed a joint investigation by the General Directorate of Internal Affairs and the Mexico City Attorney General's Office.

According to the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC), three female officers were arrested for qualified robbery, while two male officers face charges for both qualified robbery and attempted qualified homicide. After being informed of arrest warrants and their rights, the five officers were transferred to different penitentiary centers in the capital.

Judicial sources indicated that more officers from the sector are under investigation. The SSC affirmed its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy on corruption and pledged to continue strengthening internal investigations against public servants who violate the law or citizens' rights. The detained officers are identified as Esteban “N”, Nayeli “N”, Yessica “N”, and Miriam “N”.
