Five Terrorists Killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Operations

Security forces in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province have eliminated five terrorists across multiple districts in recent operations. The engagements took place in Bannu, Lower South Waziristan, and Dera Ismail Khan, targeting various terrorist networks active in the region.

In Bannu, an intelligence-based operation in the Bakakhel area resulted in the deaths of three terrorists following an exchange of fire. Security forces are intensifying operations in several areas around Bannu to dismantle terrorist infrastructure, a campaign that gained urgency after an attempted vehicle-borne bombing of a police station on July 15. During a broader search operation in Miryan tehsil, 28 suspects were apprehended.

A significant terrorist plot was thwarted in Wana, Lower South Waziristan, where an explosives-laden vehicle intended for a suicide attack was destroyed, killing one terrorist and injuring five others. Security sources stated that the vehicle was under surveillance for three days before being engaged away from populated areas to minimize civilian risk. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the security forces for preventing potential destruction.

Additionally, in Dera Ismail Khan, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) killed a wanted terrorist identified as Khalid alias Commander. He was implicated in multiple cases, including the targeted killing of a CTD constable. The operation was based on credible intelligence regarding Khalid's presence in the Korai area.
