Five weapons, stolen motorcycles, and PMT gear found in alleged hitmen's hideout in Villa Nueva

An operation in Villa Nueva, Guatemala, has led to the discovery of a significant cache of weapons, stolen vehicles, and tactical equipment, believed to be linked to alleged gang members. Following an armed assault, five suspects were apprehended after reportedly attempting to hide in a residence.

The Guatemalan National Civil Police (PNC) reported that the suspects fled into a house in the Colonia Mártires del Pueblo after a shootout in Colonia Mario Alioto. Inside the property, investigators found an arsenal including four Beretta, Taurus, and Jericho pistols, along with a .223 caliber Wylde carbine. Ammunition and magazines were also seized and will undergo ballistic analysis to determine their use in the attack or other criminal activities.

Further complicating the investigation, authorities discovered three stolen motorcycles and four bulletproof vests. Notably, two sweaters and a vest bearing the insignia of the Villa Nueva Municipal Transit Police (PMT) were also found. It remains unclear whether these items are authentic or imitation, but they are considered crucial evidence. Three ski masks and other objects potentially linked to the group's operations were also recovered.

One of the arrested individuals, identified as Abel "N," 37, has a prior record for illicit association. Another suspect was injured during the incident and is currently hospitalized under police guard. The PNC is continuing its investigation to confirm the suspects' direct involvement in the armed attack and to ascertain if the recovered weapons have been used in other violent incidents within the municipality.
