Flash flood kills two women, injures two children in Spain

A flash flood in the small Spanish village of Manzanedo de Valdueza has claimed the lives of two women and left two children with minor injuries. The deluge triggered a landslide, sending water and mud through the village's main street.

The incident occurred after a severe downpour. The water and debris became channeled down the Calle de la Iglesia, the main thoroughfare of the village, which has only a dozen registered residents. In the nearby area of Bouzas, several vehicles were swept away by the floodwaters.

The emergency services received multiple calls reporting the flood and landslides around 7:38 PM. The response included firefighters from Ponferrada, national and local police, the Emergency Coordination Center, and the Psychological Intervention Group in Disasters and Emergencies (Gripde). A rescue helicopter was also dispatched to the scene, along with ambulances and medical personnel.

Authorities confirmed the deaths and the injuries to the minors, but the full extent of the children's injuries remains unclear. No individuals are reported missing.
