Florence Ajimobi assumes duty as Nigeria’s ambassador to Austria

Mrs. Florence Ajimobi has arrived in Vienna, Austria, to officially commence her role as the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Austria and the International Organisations based in Vienna.

Upon her arrival at the VIP Wing of Vienna International Airport, Ajimobi was warmly greeted by Mr. Muyiwa Onifade, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy and Permanent Mission. She was also welcomed by embassy officials, local staff, and prominent leaders from the Nigerian community in Austria, including representatives from the Oduduwa Group, Igbo Cultural Group, Nigeria-Austria Friendship Group, Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO), and Nigerian Students in Austria.

Today, I arrived in Vienna to assume duty as the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Austria and the International Organisations in Vienna.

In a Facebook post announcing her arrival, Ajimobi expressed her deep gratitude for the heartfelt reception. She conveyed her eagerness to begin her tenure and focus on strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Nigeria and Austria.

Ajimobi, the wife of the late former Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, was among the 32 ambassadorial nominees forwarded to the Nigerian Senate by President Bola Tinubu in November 2025. Her appointment is part of a broader diplomatic reshuffling, with President Tinubu approving the postings of 65 ambassadors-designate in March 2026.
