Football Bundesliga: Baumann's deputy Philipp remains in Hoffenheim

German Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim has secured the services of goalkeeper Luca Philipp by extending his contract. Philipp serves as the deputy to the national team's starting goalkeeper, Oliver Baumann.

The club did not disclose the duration of the new contract but emphasized Philipp's value to the team. Sport Managing Director Andreas Schicker praised Philipp's "excellent mentality," stating he is an important asset both "sportingly and personally." Schicker added that Philipp's training performances contribute significantly to the high level maintained by the team's goalkeeping trio.

Philipp, a native of Stuttgart, has a long history with Hoffenheim, having joined their youth academy in 2013 from SGV Freiberg. He became a part of the professional squad in 2020. During his tenure with the first team, he has made six appearances in the Bundesliga.

His continued presence ensures stability and competition within Hoffenheim's goalkeeping department, supporting the established number one, Baumann, while developing his own potential.
