Football Bundesliga: Media: RB Leipzig reportedly interested in El Mala

Bundesliga club RB Leipzig is reportedly considering a move for Saïd El Mala, currently with 1. FC Köln, as reported by German media outlets including "Bild," "SportBild," and Sky.

The discussions in Leipzig reportedly gained traction after El Mala's anticipated transfer to Borussia Dortmund was canceled. RB Leipzig is actively searching for an offensive player to fill the void left by Yan Diomande, who has moved to Real Madrid. Their previous attempt to sign Fisnik Asllani from TSG Hoffenheim was unsuccessful due to health concerns.

RB Leipzig has declined to comment on the rumors surrounding El Mala. However, the potential transfer faces significant financial hurdles. Köln had previously rejected an offer from Dortmund reported to be around 45 million euros plus bonuses. If Leipzig were to pursue El Mala at a similar valuation, it would likely surpass their self-imposed maximum transfer limit of 30 million euros for player acquisitions, a figure that would also require approval from the supervisory board.
