Football: Nürnberg wins XXL test against Mannheim before training camp

1. FC Nürnberg concluded their pre-training camp preparations with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Waldhof Mannheim in an extended test match. The fixture, held in Roth, was played over four 30-minute periods, allowing coach Miroslav Klose to assess his squad ahead of their trip to South Tyrol.

The decisive goals came from Piet Scobel, who netted a brace in the 66th and 93rd minutes. His late strike ultimately sealed the win for the 'Club'. Nürnberg had previously trailed twice in the match, with Julian Ulbricht (44th minute) and Terrence Boyd (64th minute) scoring for Mannheim. Javier Fernandez had equalized for Nürnberg at 1-1 in the 55th minute.

Scobel expressed his satisfaction with his performance, stating, "It's a nice feeling to have scored again." Coach Klose offered a balanced assessment of his team's play. "I am partially satisfied," Klose remarked. "From the 60th minute onwards, it was better. We had more dominance then and found a better flow. Before that, it wasn't as I would have wished."

Nürnberg is set to travel to Gais in South Tyrol on Sunday for a week-long training camp. The team will aim to build on the positive aspects of their performance against Mannheim as they prepare for the upcoming season.
