Football scandal in England as Cardiff City player appears to choke young fan, investigation opened

The images from Fratton Park show Cardiff City midfielder Krystian Bielik grabbing a young Portsmouth supporter by the throat. The incident, which unfolded during a Championship match on Saturday, quickly spread across social media and has now triggered police and football investigations.

The confrontation began during a throw-in. Cardiff were trailing, and the young supporter allegedly delayed returning the ball. Bielik then appeared to lose his temper and seized the boy by the neck. Portsmouth supporters protested, but the Polish player received no sanction during the match. The young spectator was reportedly removed from the stadium after pushing the midfielder in the face.

The match ended in a 2-0 win for Portsmouth, but the altercation became the main talking point after the final whistle. Hampshire police confirmed that officers were investigating reports that a young man had been assaulted in the stands and said they were working to establish the exact circumstances.

Cardiff manager Brian Barry-Murphy defended Bielik, saying the player had been slapped in the face before the situation escalated. Another incident also occurred at the ground when a supporter threw a ball toward Cardiff player Perry Ng.

Portsmouth declined to comment on the details, saying it understood supporters’ concerns and emphasizing that the case involved a minor. The club said it and police were investigating.
