Football: Uzbekistan drops 10 places in FIFA rankings after World Cup

Uzbekistan's national football team has fallen to 60th place in the latest FIFA World Rankings, a drop of 10 positions. This decline follows a disappointing performance in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the team lost all three group stage matches.

The team's campaign ended without a single point, suffering losses to Colombia (3-1), Portugal (5-0), and DR Congo (3-1). These defeats resulted in a significant loss of 49 ranking points. The loss to Colombia alone cost Uzbekistan 14.25 points, while the match against Portugal saw a drop of 11.64 points, and the final group game against DR Congo resulted in a further 23.11-point decrease.

This latest ranking of 60th is the lowest Uzbekistan has seen since September 2024. Within Asia, the team has slipped to seventh place, having previously been in the top five. Japan leads the continental rankings at 17th, followed by Iran, Australia, and South Korea. Saudi Arabia and Qatar now sit immediately ahead of Uzbekistan in the global standings.

Globally, Spain has ascended to the top spot in the FIFA rankings after their World Cup victory, overtaking Argentina. France, England, and Brazil complete the top five. Norway achieved the most significant jump, moving up 12 places to 19th, while Tunisia experienced the largest fall, dropping 12 positions.
