Football: VfL Bochum signs "true leader" Karol Mets

German football club VfL Bochum has secured the services of Estonian international Karol Mets, signing him to a contract that runs until 2028. The 33-year-old defender joins the club following their relegation from the Bundesliga with FC St. Pauli.

VfL Bochum expressed confidence that Mets will immediately strengthen their defense. Simon Zoller, Director of Professional Football at the second-division club, stated, "With him, we are signing a true leader who will immediately bring stability to our defense with his presence." Zoller added that Mets possesses the international experience, quality, composure, and mentality they sought for the position.

Mets brings a wealth of experience to Bochum, having played 104 matches for the Estonian national team. His career includes a stint with FC St. Pauli, and his arrival is seen as a significant boost for Bochum's defensive capabilities as they aim to establish themselves in the second division.
