Footballer Lucas Trejo's Wife and Children Found Dead After Venezuela Earthquakes

The wife and two children of Argentine footballer Lucas Trejo have been found dead, days after they went missing in the aftermath of earthquakes that struck Venezuela. The family had been trapped following the collapse of a building in the Playa Grande area.

Edson Tortolero, a player from another Venezuelan club, initially confirmed the tragic discovery on social media, expressing gratitude for the widespread support during the search. His confirmation was later echoed by the club Deportivo La Guaira, which issued a statement offering condolences to Trejo and announcing the deaths of his wife, Yanina Maranella, and their children, Aarón and Ainhoa Trejo.

Prior to the confirmation, fellow professional footballers, including Robert Garcés and José Correa, had been actively involved in search and rescue operations. Garcés shared a video showing players working amidst the debris, describing Trejo as a "friend and brother of football" and highlighting their efforts to find his family.

Trejo, a defender, had desperately appealed for help on social media after the powerful earthquakes hit Venezuela. He expressed his anguish and uncertainty about his family's whereabouts, stating, "I don't know anything about my family. Pray for them. I want to believe they weren't there." The earthquakes, with an epicenter in Morón, Carabobo state, significantly impacted areas like La Guaira.
