Forced Prostitution Trial: Young Romanian Woman Allegedly Forced into Sex with Eight Men Daily

A trial has commenced at the Nuremberg-Fürth Regional Court, where a man faces serious charges of forced prostitution. The prosecution alleges that the 34-year-old defendant used violence and threats to compel a 19-year-old Romanian woman into prostitution in Germany.

According to the indictment, the young woman was allegedly forced to engage in sexual acts with an average of eight men per day against her will. All the income generated from these encounters was reportedly handed over to the accused. A co-defendant is also standing trial, accused of aiding and abetting the primary defendant's actions.

The court heard that the victim endured severe abuse, including threats, beatings, kicking, spitting, and having her hair pulled, to ensure her compliance. She was also allegedly threatened with broken legs and harm to her children in Romania. Initially, the woman was reportedly persuaded to work in prostitution in Germany and Austria, with several of the accused's family members and associates involved in the preparations. However, when she resisted, the alleged coercion escalated to physical force.

After months of alleged mistreatment, the woman managed to escape by fleeing into a gas station restroom, where she locked herself in. Police apprehended the accused as he searched for her. The court has scheduled six hearing dates for the trial, with a verdict anticipated on August 21.
