Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung visits Palau to witness Taiwan-Palau medical cooperation achievements

Taiwan's Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung arrived in Palau on August 27 to participate in the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF). During his visit, he toured the Palau National Hospital, accompanied by Palau's Vice President and Minister of Health, Raynold Oilouch.

The visit provided an opportunity to observe firsthand the results of the sustained medical cooperation between Taiwan and Palau. Minister Lin engaged in discussions regarding the future enhancement of collaboration in smart healthcare, health information systems (HIS), and the cultivation of medical professionals.

Later that evening, Minister Lin attended a dinner with Palau's President Surangel S. Whipps, Jr., government officials, traditional leaders, and a delegation of Taiwanese business representatives. The gathering facilitated an exchange of ideas on future cooperative ventures.

From health to industry, from government to the private sector, the connection between Taiwan and Palau is becoming increasingly close.

Minister Lin emphasized Taiwan's commitment to integrating its expertise in smart healthcare with Palau's development needs. He highlighted the potential for collaboration in areas ranging from hardware construction and medical services to digital technology and talent training, aiming to make Taiwan's smart healthcare capabilities a key partner in safeguarding the health of the Palauan people.

Lin also noted the inclusion of Taiwanese business representatives in the delegation, expressing a desire for them to directly engage with Palau, understand its development needs, and identify potential investment and cooperation opportunities. This initiative aims to foster a stronger partnership between government and private sectors, effectively linking Taiwan's industrial strengths with Palau's development requirements.

Looking ahead, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to work with Palau through 'comprehensive diplomacy' and the 'Rongbang Project,' integrating the strengths of the government, medical community, industry, and the private sector to build a healthier and more prosperous future together.
