Foreign Minister Wu Chao-hsieh leads delegation to Palau for Pacific Islands Forum Summit

Foreign Minister Wu Chao-hsieh departed on the morning of August 27th for Palau, a diplomatic ally, to attend the 55th Pacific Islands Forum Summit. He is leading a delegation that will also participate in the 30th "Taiwan/Republic of China and Pacific Islands Forum Countries Dialogue Meeting" and the "Pacific Prosperity Exhibit" hosted by Palau.

Wu stated before his departure that Palau is an important development partner. He hopes the prosperity exhibition will serve as a platform to share experiences in promoting cooperation projects in the Pacific region with like-minded countries such as the United States, Japan, and Australia. This initiative aims to deepen mutual exchanges and foster collaboration.

This trip, in addition to attending the Pacific Islands Forum, also hopes to use the Prosperity Exhibit to share experiences in promoting various cooperation projects in the Pacific region with Palau and like-minded countries such as the United States, Japan, and Australia, deepening mutual exchanges.

The delegation includes not only diplomatic personnel but also a business group, reflecting the government's encouragement for Taiwanese enterprises to invest in Palau. Given Palau's proximity to Taiwan and its rich natural landscapes and tourism resources, Wu expressed hope that the visit will boost bilateral investment, trade, and tourism. He also sees it as an opportunity for Taiwan to increase its engagement with Pacific nations.

During his visit, Wu is scheduled to hold sideline discussions with representatives from Taiwan's Pacific allies and other friendly nations. These talks will focus on strengthening Taiwan's partnerships with Pacific island countries and jointly maintaining peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. Additionally, Wu plans to meet with Palau's President Surangel S. Whipps Jr. and Vice President Raynold B. Oilouch. He will also visit the Palau National Hospital and inspect projects under the "Prosperity Palau" initiative, which is jointly promoted by Taiwan and Palau, to assess their implementation and future cooperation directions.

Palau is the closest diplomatic ally to Taiwan and possesses rich natural landscapes and tourism resources. Through this visit, we hope to promote bilateral investment, trade, and tourism development, and provide Taiwan with more opportunities for exchange and cooperation with Pacific countries.
