Foreign national arrested in Mexico City for homicide, drug possession

Mexican authorities arrested a 30-year-old foreign national in Mexico City, identifying him as the primary suspect in a homicide that occurred earlier in the week. The arrest took place in the Polanco Quinta Sección neighborhood following an extensive search operation that utilized surveillance cameras.

During the apprehension, police officers found a knife with what appeared to be bloodstains on it, along with 50 doses of suspected marijuana. The incident began when officers patrolling the area responded to a report of a fight among homeless individuals. Upon arrival, they discovered a 55-year-old man with a fatal chest wound.

Initial investigations suggest the victim and the suspect argued over sleeping space. Following this lead, law enforcement initiated a search, and security camera footage helped identify an individual believed to have fled the scene after the assault. The suspect was located in the Polanco Segunda Sección area and attempted to evade capture upon seeing the police, but was apprehended.

The case has been handed over to the Public Ministry, which will determine the suspect's legal status and continue the investigation into the homicide and alleged drug possession.
