Forest fire breaks out in Antalya’s Serik as crews continue fighting the blaze

Fire crews are continuing to battle a forest fire in Antalya’s Serik district, with aircraft and ground teams working in the Kızılbölük area of Akbaş Mahallesi.

The fire began at around 3:30 p.m. One firefighting aircraft, five helicopters and about 70 water tenders have been deployed, alongside a large number of forestry workers. Water tankers from Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and Serik Municipality are also making repeated deliveries to support the effort.

Gendarmerie units have taken security measures around the fire so crews can work more safely and freely. Commando units have been sent to the area to assist, while AFAD teams remain on standby for possible developments.

The response is being coordinated from a fire management center established in the area. Serik District Governor Dr. Cemal Şahin, Forestry General Director Bekir Karacabey and Antalya Regional Forestry Director Kemal Kayıran are monitoring operations and directing the deployment of teams. The cause of the fire and the size of the affected area had not been reported in the supplied update.
