Forget the Ancestral Table: Chuseok Hotel Stays Tailored to Every Generation Take Off

South Korean hotels are stepping up competition for families who want to spend Chuseok together without the labor of preparing ceremonial food and ancestral rites. Their new “Chuseok hotel stays” focus on extended hotel experiences, combining dining with traditional-culture programs for every generation.

The key selling point is an itinerary that works for everyone from young children to older family members. Hotels are presenting the packages as a way to minimize holiday preparation while creating more time for family activities and a fuller celebration.

The Shilla Seoul will offer a package from September 24 to 26 that combines traditional music with a Chuseok dinner at Yeongbin-gwan. The venue, established in 1967 for major national events, is being used to present holiday culture in a setting built around the beauty of traditional Korean architecture.

The package includes a modern reinterpretation of traditional music and a dinner buffet with a separate Korean-food section designed around the Chuseok atmosphere. Other family-focused offerings are also emerging as hotels seek to attract households looking for a less labor-intensive holiday.
