Former anchor involved in restaurant payment dispute

Kuo Yi-chun, a former anchor for TVBS known as the "electric-eyed anchor," found herself in a public dispute at a Taipei restaurant on Saturday evening over an unpaid bill of NT$220 (approximately $7 USD).

The incident occurred when Kuo, after finishing her meal, attempted to settle the bill. She reportedly did not have cash and tried to pay using two different debit cards. Both cards were declined, leading to a verbal altercation with the restaurant's staff. The situation escalated to the point where the restaurant owner called the police.

Upon the police's arrival, a resolution was reached: the restaurant agreed to let Kuo pay the bill at a later date, and she promised to return within five days to settle the outstanding amount. This marks the second such public payment dispute involving Kuo Yi-chun this year. In May, she was reportedly involved in a disagreement over the purchase of a pair of shoes valued at NT$200. In that instance, she allegedly offered to use her EasyCard to cover the difference after being short on cash, an offer the shoe store initially refused. Police intervention eventually led to the store agreeing to sell the shoes for NT$180, resolving that particular conflict.

Kuo Yi-chun previously worked as a reporter for TVBS News before transitioning to an anchor role, where her professional performance was recognized. Her distinctive features, including large, expressive eyes, contributed to her on-air persona.
