Former British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to leave Parliament

Keir Starmer is leaving Parliament after 11 years as the representative for Holborn and St Pancras, ending his political career in the House of Commons two months after stepping down as Britain's prime minister.

Starmer said it was “the right time” to withdraw from Parliament. The former Labour leader has already informed his party of his plans, according to PA.

He described representing the London constituency as “a great honour and privilege” and said he would now turn his attention to other matters. His stated interests include international affairs, defense, security, trade and technology in a rapidly changing world.

Starmer has represented Holborn and St Pancras since 2015. Andy Burnham, his Labour colleague and successor as prime minister, attended his first parliamentary sitting since taking office as the latest announcement continued to develop.
