Former child star Xu Jie dies at 27; friend shares final conversation

Taiwanese singer Xu Jie, who gained fame as a child prodigy with his clear voice, has died at the age of 27. Known as the 'Beautiful Voice Little King,' his passing has prompted widespread mourning from those who knew him during his rise to stardom.

Xu Jie first captured national attention at age 11 when he appeared on the show "Super Idol" as a challenge contestant. He memorably defeated singer Julia Peng with his rendition of "Missing You," leaving a lasting impression on viewers.

Friends and former colleagues from his early career have shared their grief. Among them is Lan De (Xiao Ou), who performed with Xu Jie on a MinTV program and was even part of a group formed by the show. Lan De posted a lengthy tribute, sharing memories that resurfaced upon hearing the news.

Lan De recalled a conversation from a few years ago when he casually mentioned wanting to visit Thailand. Xu Jie, who was living there at the time, took the remark seriously. He carefully selected souvenirs to send back to Taiwan and they planned to meet up. "When you return to Taiwan, or when I go to Thailand, we'll have a good get-together," they promised.

Tragically, this reunion never happened. Xu Jie briefly returned to Taiwan for business but couldn't meet up due to time constraints. Lan De had urged him to let him know on his next visit, to which Xu Jie playfully responded, "Yes, sir!" This exchange became one of their last conversations.

Both men became busy with their lives. Xu Jie rarely updated his social media, leading Lan De to believe he was doing well. Looking back, the simple promise of a future meeting now feels particularly painful.
