Former Finance Minister Nunez-Tesheira Recovers After Medical Emergency on Live TV

Former finance minister Karen Nunez-Tesheira was rushed to the hospital yesterday after experiencing a medical emergency during a live television interview. The incident occurred during a recording of the program "Conversations with Zelisa" on ZM Network Ltd's channel.

As Nunez-Tesheira began to answer a question, she became quiet and slumped in her chair. ZM Network Ltd issued a statement confirming the "medical emergency" and that she was taken to the hospital by the production team. The company stated she is resting and recovering with her family by her side.

Host Zelisa Boodoosingh Rupani emphasized that Nunez-Tesheira's health and safety were the team's first priority. "Mrs Nunez-Tesheira is a national icon whose service to Trinidad and Tobago spans decades, as an attorney, law lecturer, parliamentarian, and as our country’s (former) minister of finance," Boodoosingh Rupani said. She asked the public to respect the privacy of Nunez-Tesheira and her family.

Nunez-Tesheira was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2007 for the D'Abadie/O'Meara constituency. An attorney-at-law by profession, she was also appointed minister of finance in November 2007.
