Former Gaza hostage Elkana Bohbot welcomes birth of new daughter

Former Hamas hostage Elkana Bohbot and his wife, Rivka, have welcomed the birth of their daughter, marking a significant moment of joy and recovery.

Bohbot, who was released from Hamas captivity on October 13, 2025, after more than two years held underground in Gaza, shared the happy news via an Instagram post on Friday. The post included a photo of himself, his wife, and their newborn baby in the hospital, accompanied by a passage from the book of Psalms expressing gratitude to God.

Bohbot previously recounted his harrowing experience of survival in his book, "738 Days in Hamas Captivity." The arrival of his daughter represents a profound personal milestone following his ordeal.

Head of Yisrael Beytenu, MK Avigdor Liberman, offered his congratulations, calling the birth "the real victory!" He expressed wishes for the couple to "raise her in peace and with lots of love," adding that "the entire nation of Israel is thrilled together with you."
