Former KFA President, Coach Apologize for Team's Performance at Parliamentary Hearing

Former Korea Football Association president Chung Mong-gyu and former national team coach Hong Myung-bo bowed their heads in apology during a parliamentary hearing, expressing regret for failing to meet public expectations.

"I apologize for not meeting the public's expectations," stated Chung and Hong as they appeared before the National Assembly's Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee on Tuesday. The committee convened to scrutinize the overall operations of the Korea Football Association (KFA) following widespread criticism after the national team's elimination from the group stage of the 2026 North, Central American, and Caribbean World Cup.

The hearing aimed to address various issues within the KFA's management and decision-making processes. The public outcry following the World Cup qualification failure prompted the legislative body to investigate the association's performance and governance.
