She began her moving confession as an intimate letter to herself, urging introspection and self-compassion. "Dear me, look in the mirror. Don't just see the tiredness under your eyes or the body that is still recovering and breathing with difficulty. Look deeper," Pahor wrote. "She watched her world crumble, survived war and hunger, but refused to give up. My illness was my personal war. There were days when I, broken, prayed to God for just an hour of sleep and a bite of food," she admitted honestly, offering a glimpse into the physical and mental exhaustion she endured. Pahor strongly emphasizes that she emerged from this difficult battle spiritually transformed and empowered. "Maybe the scars are there, maybe your body is still fighting fatigue every day, but your soul has won. You have emerged from this illness spiritually wiser, calmer, and more connected to God," she told herself.
