Former MP Kalev Stoicescu Considers Joining Parempoolsed Party

Kalev Stoicescu, a former member of the Estonian parliament and the Eesti 200 party, is contemplating a move to the political group Parempoolsed. Stoicescu attended Parempoolsed's general assembly, where he was a prominent guest alongside another politician considering joining the party. He stated that he is weighing the offer from Parempoolsed, as well as a proposal from another unnamed party, with a decision expected next week. Stoicescu emphasized the value of attending the general assembly to gain a comprehensive understanding of Parempoolsed's current platform, objectives, and strategies. He has been in contact with many acquaintances and is eagerly awaiting the discussions. Stoicescu identifies as a liberal and stressed the importance of new individuals entering politics with fresh perspectives, a factor he appreciated in the previous parliamentary intake. Reflecting on his departure from Eesti 200, Stoicescu cited the Johanna-Maria Lehtme scandal as a significant early problem. He admitted to repeatedly postponing his resignation from Eesti 200, initially doing so to continue his work in national defense as a committee member. The decision to leave became unavoidable now if he wishes to remain active in politics. Meanwhile, Parempoolsed proceeded with their leadership election without challenges to Lavly Perling, who secured 326 votes, and expressed pride in the high number of candidates for their board positions.
