Former NPO Executive Rearrested for Arranging Cambodian Organ Transplant

Authorities have re-arrested a former executive of a non-profit organization (NPO) on suspicion of arranging organ transplant surgeries for another man in Cambodia. This follows a previous arrest where the same former executive, along with two other individuals, was taken into custody for facilitating a similar procedure for a man residing in Tokyo.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's investigation suggests a pattern of illicit organ transplant arrangements. The latest arrest centers on allegations that the former NPO executive acted as an intermediary for a second patient, a man in his 60s, to undergo a transplant surgery in Cambodia. This alleged arrangement reportedly involved a payment equivalent to approximately 8.5 million yen (around $53,000 USD).

Details surrounding the specific NPO and the nature of its operations remain under investigation.
