Nahuel Gallo, an Argentine gendarme and former political prisoner, has called for continued international focus on individuals detained for political reasons in Venezuela, even as global attention turns to the 2026 World Cup.

He emphasized the profound impact these detentions have on the families of those affected, who continue to await answers and progress in their legal cases.

His associates and human rights organizations denounced a lack of due process guarantees.
