Former prosecutor seeks registration of Kılıçdaroğlu's leadership end

Former Supreme Court Prosecutor Ömer Faruk Eminağaoğlu has lodged a complaint with the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Cassation concerning the leadership of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu within the Republican People's Party (CHP). Eminağaoğlu argues that Kılıçdaroğlu's tenure as party leader, which began on July 25, 2020, following the CHP's 37th Ordinary Congress, officially concluded on July 26, 2023.

In his petition, Eminağaoğlu seeks to have this termination of Kılıçdaroğlu's leadership formally recorded in the party's official registry. He has submitted two separate applications to the Political Parties Bureau of the Court of Cassation's Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The former prosecutor's actions aim to challenge the current leadership status within the main opposition party.

Furthermore, Eminağaoğlu's complaint requests that the Constitutional Court be petitioned to issue a warning to the CHP. This action is based on Article 104/1 of Law No. 2820 on Political Parties. The legal basis for this request implies a contention that the party may be in violation of regulations concerning its leadership or internal procedures.
