Foundation Holds Free Medical Outreach for World Brain Day in Imo State

Regions Healthcare Foundation commemorated World Brain Day by hosting a free medical outreach in Mgbirichi, Imo State, Nigeria. The initiative included a health awareness campaign designed to educate residents on recognizing the symptoms of brain ailments and the importance of seeking timely medical attention.

The outreach, organized by the corporate social responsibility arm of Regions Healthcare Hospitals and Specialist Clinics, provided a range of services. Attendees received free medical consultations, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments, and health education. Guided exercise sessions, brain health quizzes, counseling, and free medications were also part of the event, offering residents a chance to understand their health better and identify potential risk factors early.

Dr. Sherece Okafor, President of Regions Healthcare Foundation, stated that the initiative demonstrates the hospital's commitment to delivering quality healthcare beyond its facilities and directly to communities. She highlighted Regions Healthcare's role as a leading specialist hospital in Nigeria, offering advanced care for complex conditions such as stroke, neurology, neurorehabilitation, and cardiac interventions, supported by modern technology and international standards.

Dr. Okafor stressed that many neurological conditions, including stroke and epilepsy, are preventable or manageable through early detection, healthy lifestyle choices, and prompt medical care. "Our message is simple: your brain matters. Prevention and early intervention save lives, and we want more people to understand the importance of protecting their brain health," she said.

The foundation plans to continue organizing community-based health programs, awareness campaigns, and free medical outreaches as part of its vision to foster healthier communities across Nigeria's Southeast region and beyond. This outreach reinforced the belief that quality healthcare should be accessible to all, empowering individuals with knowledge for healthier choices before illness strikes.
