Four alleged extortionists, including a minor, arrested in Venustiano Carranza

Police in Mexico City apprehended four individuals, one of whom is a minor, in the Venustiano Carranza borough for allegedly engaging in extortion. The group is accused of demanding money from the owners of a food stall to permit them to operate their business.

The incident unfolded when officers responded to a report of gunshots in the Simón Bolívar neighborhood. Upon arrival, they were approached by the owners of a semi-fixed food stall. The owners reported that the four suspects had demanded money, threatening harm if their demands were not met. They stated that on this occasion, they had not paid the full amount demanded, which led to the suspects becoming aggressive.

As the officers arrived, the suspects attempted to flee. A pursuit ensued, with police apprehending the individuals at the intersection of Esterlinas and Damasco streets. A search of the suspects yielded a knife and cash.

The arrested individuals, aged 17, 19, 20, and 24, were taken into custody and transferred to the Public Ministry to determine their legal status. The charges stem from allegations of extortion, a crime that involves demanding money or favors through threats or intimidation.
