Four deadly traffic accidents shake Ecuador in under 10 hours

Ecuador experienced a series of four serious traffic accidents within a span of less than 10 hours, leaving multiple people dead and injured. The incidents occurred between Friday evening and Saturday morning, affecting different parts of the country, primarily Quito and the Cañar province. Emergency services were mobilized to respond to each event, highlighting a concerning pattern of road safety issues.

The first accident occurred late Friday night in northern Quito on Avenida Antonio José de Sucre and Catón Cárdenas. The collision resulted in three fatalities and eight injuries. Emergency personnel provided pre-hospital care to the injured before transporting them to local hospitals. Rescue operations at the scene lasted for several hours as bodies were recovered and survivors were extracted.

Early Saturday morning, a particularly grave accident took place on the Cuenca-Azogues highway in the Cañar province. A bus was involved in the incident near the Rumihurco roundabout, leading to one death and ten injuries. Paramedics treated the injured at the scene before they were taken to medical facilities for further treatment. Authorities have not yet released details regarding the cause of this accident or the condition of those injured.

Two additional accidents were reported in Quito during the early hours of Saturday. One involved a head-on collision on the Panamericana Norte in the San Camilo sector, where three people received pre-hospital care. Another incident occurred shortly after in the El Bosque sector, on Avenida Mariscal Sucre and Edmundo Carvajal, prompting a coordinated response from traffic and fire departments.
