Four Detained in UP's Bareilly for Selling Non-Veg Food on Kanwar Yatra Route

Police in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, detained four people after raiding two shops accused of selling non-vegetarian food along a route designated for the Kanwar Yatra pilgrimage. This action follows official directives prohibiting the sale of meat, chicken, and fish in specific areas during the religious observance.

Officials had issued warnings of legal action against any traders violating these orders. The raids occurred amidst heightened surveillance along Kanwar routes during the ongoing Sawan month. In one instance, police received information about chicken biryani being sold at a shop near the old Roadways bus stand. Upon arrival, officers found the shop operating despite a prior warning, leading to the detention of the shopkeepers, Salman and Raees. Subsequently, the shop's tin shed and counter were dismantled.

A second raid targeted another shop near the bakery area, resulting in the detention of two more individuals. These traders had reportedly been warned previously but continued their operations. The circle officer reiterated that directions regarding the sale of non-vegetarian food had been issued and further violations would face legal consequences. Meanwhile, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi had also ordered a crackdown on illegal meat shops operating near Kanwar routes and camps in June.
