Four Manual Lotto Wins at One South Korean Retailer Could Mean a 4.7 Billion Won Jackpot

A single lottery retailer in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, has sold four manually chosen first-prize winning tickets for the 1238th Lotto draw, sparking excitement and speculation. The total prize money for these four tickets, if purchased by the same individual, amounts to approximately 4.78 billion won (around $3.5 million USD).

According to Donghaeng Lotto, the draw on August 24, 2026, resulted in 23 first-prize winners nationwide. Of these, 13 were manual selections, 9 were automatic, and one was a semi-automatic purchase. The retailer, 'Yugane Lottery Shop' located on Jangji-gil in Gwangju, accounted for four of the manual wins.

While the possibility of a single winner holding all four tickets is high, confirmation is pending. Each first-prize ticket is worth about 1.19 billion won. If one person indeed bought all four, their total winnings would be nearly 4.79 billion won.

Other significant wins include two first-prize tickets sold at 'Jongno 3-ga Subway Station Exit 2 Street Vendor 82' in Jongno-gu, Seoul, one manual and one automatic. Gyeonggi Province led in the number of first-prize winners with eight, followed by Busan with three, and Seoul, Gwangyang (Jeonnam), and Gyeongnam with two each. One manual first-prize ticket was also sold online.
