Four Parties Register for Kazakhstan's Kurultai Elections; International Observers Accredited

Kazakhstan is advancing its preparations for the upcoming Aug. 23 Kurultai elections, with four out of seven approved political parties having successfully registered their candidate lists with the Central Election Commission (CEC).

The parties that have completed the registration process are the People's Party of Kazakhstan, the Ak Zhol Democratic Party, the Nationwide Social Democratic Party (OSDP), and the Respublica Party. These parties have submitted their nominated candidates to the CEC, moving forward in the electoral timeline.

Meanwhile, the Adilet (Justice) Party, the Auyl (Village) Party, and the Baytaq (Vast) Green Party of Kazakhstan are still in the process of submitting their documentation for registration. The CEC continues to accept these submissions as the election draws nearer.

In parallel, the electoral body has accredited 76 international observers who will monitor the election process. These observers represent four foreign countries and three international organizations, including the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights election observation mission. The accreditation for international observers remains open until Aug. 17, allowing for further nominations through Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry.
