Four Suspects Arrested with Drugs and Weapons in Mexico City Mayoralties; Two Are Foreigners

Mexico City's security forces have once again demonstrated their commitment to combating drug trafficking and related criminal activities. In coordinated operations conducted by the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) and the Attorney General's Office of Justice (FGJ), four individuals were apprehended, two of whom are foreign nationals. These arrests, carried out across the Cuauhtémoc and Miguel Hidalgo mayoralties, are a direct response to numerous citizen reports concerning drug sales and other illicit activities plaguing our communities.

The operations involved meticulous intelligence gathering and the subsequent execution of search warrants authorized by a control judge. In the San Juanico neighborhood of Miguel Hidalgo, officers seized a significant quantity of drugs, including marijuana and a solid crystalline substance, along with a long firearm, specifically a shotgun loaded with seven cartridges. This bust highlights the dangerous arsenal possessed by those involved in organized crime operating within our city.

The SSC reported that the arrests were made following several citizen complaints about drug sales and other criminal acts.

Further reinforcing the SSC and FGJ's efforts, personnel from the Navy and National Guard provided crucial support during these raids. In the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Cuauhtémoc, two Colombian nationals, aged 22 and 30, were arrested. The authorities confiscated a handgun, a substantial amount of marijuana, and another solid substance believed to be drugs, alongside numerous plastic cards from various financial institutions, suspected to be counterfeit. The presence of digital scales and the sheer volume of drugs seized underscore the scale of the operation these individuals were part of.

From Mexico City's perspective, these arrests are not just statistics; they represent a tangible step towards reclaiming our streets from the grip of criminal elements.
