Four Teams Advance to Semifinals in Vietnamese Workers' Football Tournament

The Northern regionals of the Vietnamese Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament 2026 have concluded their qualifying rounds, identifying the four strongest contenders for the semifinals. These teams are Công đoàn Hải Phòng, the 2023 champions; Công đoàn Quảng Ninh, the 2024 champions; Công đoàn ngân hàng Việt Nam, the 2025 runners-up; and Công đoàn PetroVietnam, the 2023 runners-up. The advancement of these established teams highlights the tournament's growing prestige and competitive nature.

We don't set overly high goals; just having a ticket to participate in the national finals is enough. However, the further we go, the happier and more fulfilled players, coaches, and even we are. This is motivation for the team to participate again next year.

PetroVietnam, represented by its trade union, views the tournament as a significant annual event. Lê Tiến Sơn, Deputy Head of the Labor Relations Department at Công đoàn PetroVietnam, expressed that while high expectations are not set, participation in the national finals is a key goal. He added that progressing further in the competition brings joy and motivation to players and staff alike, encouraging future participation. PetroVietnam emphasizes that the tournament is not just about achieving results but also about ensuring employees feel cared for and valued through their involvement.

The captain of the Công đoàn Quảng Ninh team, Nguyễn Mạnh Đức, also known as "Đức Bê tô," commented on the high caliber of competition. Following their decisive 5-1 quarterfinal victory against Công đoàn Bắc Ninh 3, Đức stated that all participating teams possess strong skills and a high level of professionalism. He noted the increasing attention the tournament receives and the continuous improvement in player quality and match intensity, leading to greater competition. His team benefits from consistent practice and strong cohesion among players, supported by their respective unions and industry leaders, which he believes will help them perform at their best.

Both PetroVietnam and Quảng Ninh are making a return to the tournament after a year's absence in 2025. Bà Hoàng Thị Hồng Phấn, Vice President of the Quảng Ninh Provincial Federation of Labor, observed that the overall quality and competitiveness of the giải đấu have significantly increased. She acknowledged that the high level of competition demands peak performance from all participating teams.
